emotive is delighted to announce that we are finalists in both the healthcare charity and integrated channel campaign categories at this year’s PM Society Digital Awards.
Now in its 10th year, the Digital Awards recognise the best in digital effectiveness, creativity and innovation within the healthcare industry. The event highlights the most effective tools, campaigns and programmes in medical communications, HCP education, patient support and pharmaceutical marketing.
The first of our entries is an integrated channel campaign to explain the symptoms of IBS to patients, who often understand little about their condition and how to manage it, due to the unqiueness of each individual’s experience. IBS sufferers commonly feel that they are misunderstood and not taken seriously by HCPs, leading them to become frustrated and disengaged with their treatment plan. We developed a campaign aiming to educate IBS patients; spreading awareness and increasing outreach over digital channels. The campaign also equipped clinicians with materials and digital tools. Ultimately, this worked to bridge the gap between patients and their HCPs, which in turn encouraged them to engage more strongly with their treatment plan.
Secondly, we are delighted that a campaign for Rare Disease UK has been nominated as a finalist in the healthcare charities and patient associations category. The Spot the Rare campaign was rooted in an innovative idea to use fun emojis to engage the audience and drive home the message that it is difficult to spot a rare disease. People were invited to spot the odd 1 out in a group of 17 emojis – think a zebra masquerading amongst horses or a strawberry camouflaged amongst apples! This drove home the message that although 1 in 17 people in the UK have a rare disorder, making rare patients collectively common, they are often unseen by the untrained eye! The campaign was hugely successful in raising awareness for rare disorders; something the team at emotive are extremely passionate about.
