Senior Medical Writer

Job Title: Senior Medical Writer

Reporting to: Medical Director or Scientific Lead

Team: Medical Team


As a Senior Medical Writer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Craft and write engaging, accurate and fully referenced copy for POD clients and review other team members work, providing clear feedback to ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Develop copy for a range of different media including both traditional forms such as slide decks, posters and meetings materials as well as for digital applications, web-based projects and film/animation storyboards.
  • Become an in-house therapy area expert within at least one disease area.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of proposals for new business and with existing POD clients.
  • Attend client and thought-leader/KOL/faculty meetings and video conferences, leading on the content discussions where required
  • Work collaboratively work with the creative and technology shared services teams to produce high-quality medical communications


Required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • 3 -4 years as a medical writer with experience within a medical communications setting, either within an agency, client or clinical environment
  • Educated to MSc or PhD in life sciences or related subject
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work simultaneously on more than one project
  • Creative thinking with the ability to provide realistic scientific communication concepts for projects which deliver on client’s objectives
  • The skills to write accurately and creatively in a dynamic and collaborative agency environment

Senior Account Director

Job Title: Senior Account Director

Reporting to: Client Services Lead

Team: Client Services Team


As a Senior Account Director, you will be responsible for the following:


  • Ultimate responsibility for a portfolio of global client accounts, taking ownership of the emotive relationship with clients.
  • Provide senior counsel and leadership to clients, cultivating strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers.
  • With your PMW, take overall responsibility for all account deliverables and outputs and ensure the appropriate resource is secured and deployed as needed.
  • Responsibility for financial performance of allocated accounts.
  • Play an active role in new business development, helping to secure and respond to RFPs, contributing and sometimes leading pitches and winning new work. Present both internally and externally.
  • Maintain a solid knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical market issues, client and competitor company / product positioning, overall strategic objectives of clients and keep abreast of potential opportunities and trends.


Required knowledge, skills and abilities


  • 7+ years’ experience within global or international medical communications, specifically within a client services team.
  • Demonstrable ability to inspire, motivate and line-manage client services team members, with experience of giving annual appraisals, writing objectives and measuring performance.
  • Flexible personality and a quick learner who operates with a sense of urgency.
  • A dynamic self-starter who can lead and manage a dedicated business unit
  • Excellent presentation skills with experience of proposal writing and pitching
  • Solid understanding of finance related to client account management.

As an Account Manager you will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage the development and delivery of high quality medical communications programmes and projects that meet the strategic needs of customers.
  • Deliver on all aspects of account activities including briefing, planning, scheduling, budgets and resourcing, ensuring the delivery of projects to agreed specification and quality within budget and timescales
  • Maintain high visibility within the client organisations, developing strong relationships with key ‘POD’ client contacts and stakeholders and obtain regular feedback. Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers within accounts and develop in-depth knowledge of the customer.
  • Review deliverables to ensure they meet the strategic objectives of the ‘POD’ clients, adhere to clients’ key messages that are relevant to their target audiences.
  • Contribute to strategic direction of accounts encompassing all aspects of programme / project development through thorough knowledge of market issues, as well as the clients and projects overall strategic objectives.
  • Track and mange account finances, including development of account budgets, liaison for sign off, tracking of servicing levels. Ensure regular updates provided to the client and POD leaders.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • 2 years + experience and career advancement in a healthcare agency environment or similar
  • A BSc/MSc in a related subject
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of medical communications including key strategic and tactical services
  • Flexible personality and a quick learner who operates with a sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated ability to line manage junior team members, with experience of giving annual appraisals, writing objectives and measuring performance.
  • Solid understanding of finance related to client account management
