emotive supports Rare Disease Day 2019

With a series of events and activities over the week leading up to Rare Disease Day on February 28th, we showed our support for stimulating greater awareness of Rare Diseases along with promoting earlier diagnosis and access to novel treatments.

On 20th February, we attended ‘The Unusual Suspects: Rare Diseases in Everyday Medical Care” at the Royal Society of Medicine, hosted by Medics 4 Rare Diseases (M4RD).

On the 25th, we welcomed Dr Lucy McKay and Dan Jeffries from M4RD to the office to speak to the team about their great work in driving an attitude change towards rare diseases amongst medical students and doctors-in-training.

Dan also spoke to the team about his experience of living with not one but two rare diseases, driving home the real reason we, and M4RD, are so passionate about the work we do in such an innovative area of medicine.

On 26th February, the first of many exciting projects in our partnership with M4RD in 2019 was revealed to the world. A brand new animation that captures M4RD’s history and inspirational spirit, this short piece showcases the great work they do and the many ways healthcare professionals, patients and advocates can work with them!

In line with the Rare Disease Day theme, we took photos of our team all week in the office sporting their fluorescent stripes or zebra masks to show their rare qualities.

And finally on the 28th, Rare Disease Day, our London office was taken over with neon decorations and rare disease awareness activities, including viewings of videos of people living with rare diseases throughout the day. We also shared our rare across social media, with our team selfies.
