emotive does denim – Jeans for Genes

As we continue to grow our client list of global and international accounts, a large proportion of this work is in the field of rare and ultra-rare genetic disorders, so for the whole team at emotive, Jeans for Genes is a key event. The office is humming with activity this week as September is one of our busiest months of the year. But, no matter how busy, Friday has been dedicated to reflecting on our work in rare disorders and reminding ourselves of the people we are all so passionate about helping; the patients and their families across the globe affected by rare genetic conditions.

To show our dedication, we ran our own internal campaign: emotive does denim! Office wear was transformed for the day with all of the emotive team sporting Jeans for Genes.

This week many of our team have been attending events abroad; running international symposia, overseeing innovative booth activities for global clients and all the while keeping up to date with the newest developments in rare therapy areas. Our campaign didn’t just end in London, we asked our team overseas to take their denim abroad. We asked our Advanced Therapies Expert, Dr Silvana Bardelli, to tell us what she’s been up to in Athens this week;

“My colleagues Anj, Imogen, Kat and myself have been in Athens for the last few days to support a client with a symposium at the 13th European Paediatric Neurology Society (EPNS) Congress. At this international conference, I noticed the increasing interest in innovative gene therapy approaches and the potential curative value of products in the pipeline of many companies working in the rare disease space. Despite the challenges and hurdles that everyone working in the advanced therapies sector is aware of, I acknowledge that the current landscape, by leveraging new technologies, is opening the horizon to further therapeutic opportunities that may be offered to young patients. And to me, given my personal involvement in patient engagement, this represents a positive message that comes across the clinical setting”. – Dr Silvana Bardelli, Advanced Therapies Expert

Dr Silvana Bardelli, who has been an intergral member of our Medical team for over two years, holds a PhD in Human Molecular Genetics from the University of Insubria, Italy, and further specialised in advanced therapy medicinal products chemistry, manufacturing and control in the US and Switzerland. With work ongoing preparing for the global launch of one of the earliest gene therapies as well as developing HCP engagement with gene silencing technology and educating on cell therapies such as CAR-T, this emotive business unit provides core expertise in this emerging and highly specialised field.

A new office in Cambridge, Massachusetts, will provide further support to our clients on both EU and US launches, with a focus on rare genetic disorder therapy areas. We are passionate and excited to continue to bolster our offering in this space, partnering with new and existing clients to bring better therapy options to patients with rare genetic conditions.
