After studying Biomedical Sciences at Newcastle University, Lorna found her way into healthcare communications via a brief stint in pharmaceutical sales. Originally from Sheffield, she moved to London to pursue a graduate role, which quickly turned into three years in the industry. We caught up with her to find out what she gets up to each day.
What are you responsible for?
My role involves implementation of all the projects we are delivering on the accounts I work on. As an Account Manager, you have a unique position within the team structure. You are the middleman between the junior team members and the more senior members of staff, as well as the main point of contact for clients, so your day can be really varied!
Talk me through your typical day.
I’m not the best morning person, so I tend to snooze my alarm until 7.20 am and then I’m up and joining the rest of the commuters as I make my way into central London. I re-check my emails and calendar on the way into work to make sure nothing urgent has come through. We have a lot of global clients, so you need to be aware of different time zones.
Once in the office around 9.00 am, I have breakfast at my desk whilst reading through and respond to any emails that require actioning. Every day, I check and re-prioritise my to-do list; things can change quickly so our roles require a lot of agility.
From here on in, the day revolves around collaborating with various team members to ensure our work is delivered to agreed deadlines. We have team meetings with colleagues in Medical and Creative to update one another, check in on timelines and resourcing, and make sure everybody is briefed properly.
Describe a favourite project you’ve worked on.
I’m currently working on a project that has a really unique creative concept; we are gathering insights from patients with so called ‘invisible’ conditions, and helping them to express their feelings about living with a chronic condition…although I won’t reveal exactly how we are doing this, the launch is in June!
What do you love most about your job at emotive?
At the core of the agency, everybody shares the same goal; we want to make people better through the work we do.

Who has been the most influential person in your life to date?
What has been the most fun you’ve had during your time at emotive?
At the end of each month, we hold a ‘mash-up’ where we have an informal meeting with the whole agency. With an accompaniment of beverages and snacks, we share news on business opportunities, changes in the agency and highlights of projects the different teams have delivered in the past month. I’m a curious person (nosy) so I love seeing what other teams have been up to and ‘cheers-ing’ to their success.
What is your favourite sandwich?
Ooh…toughest question yet…On one end of the scale, I love a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, and on the other, a quaver sandwich on white bread is pretty special!
